Our tasty magret breasts come from the Muscovey duck (sometimes called Barbarie duck), which was native to South America but domesticated and imported into Europe during the 16th century. It is thin-skinned, low in fat, and has a deep red mildly meat which could be compared to roast beef in flavor and veal in tenderness.
